PixRecovery is a simple software program that aims to retrieve corrupted or damaged images. It offers support for BMP, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, TIFF and TIF formats, RAW pictures, as well as for Canon, Epson, Leica, Nikon, Olympus, Sony, Panasonic and other camera types. The interface of the application is user-friendly, whether you are already familiarized with this kind of tool or not. Thanks to the simple wizard, you can quickly and easily carry out a retrieval task. Files and folders are loaded into the working environment via the file browser and tree view, respectively. The "drag and drop" function is unsupported, but you can add as many items as you want, and include subdirectories. Image details shown in the main frame focus on the file path, password status, date, size, type, notes and output format; you can either keep the original file type or turn it into something else. Data backup has a high priority in most applications, since it protects your original files. Luckily, PixRecovery offers this option. Once you establish the target directory while having the option to maintain the original folder structure, you can initialize the recovery job. Plenty of log details are shown during this time, such as the location of recovery results and log files, recovery assessment and data analysis results (e.g. bits per pixel, image quality, recovered frames, output format), among others. PixRecovery includes user documentation, has a good response time and finishes a recovery task rapidly while using a moderate amount of system memory and CPU. It delivers good results concerning the image quality and performed well during our evaluation.
