DescriptionFor eMule

eMule is a file sharing software, similar to StrongDC++ or ApexDC++. Based on the eDonkey2000 protocol, it facilitates the transmissions of data between client nodes in a fast manner. eMule’s advantage comes from the fact that it transfers files using the zlib-compressed format, thus saving a great deal of bandwidth. Simple setup and user-friendly GUIYou are required to go through a fairly seamless installation process, as it does not offer to download any third-party products and only lasts a few seconds. The interface is intuitive and simple, as it only comprises several buttons and a few panes to display various information. As a consequence, all types of users can easily get around it, without facing difficulties. Choose a server, look up items and upload othersFirst and foremost, you are required to select a server you wish to connect to, and search for a particular file. If the results are not immediately returned, do not despair. It may take the tool a while to get the wheels turning (download speed is usually fast, if the bitrate is good). For example, when searching for an audio track to download, eMule displays the length of the file, format type, bitrate, and whether it has been already processed or not. Each downloaded item goes directly into shared files, so that others can have access to it, yet it is also possible to select other files from your hard drive and upload them with a simple click of the button. Communicate with others and use a schedulerIn addition, you can chat with users and access IRC channels. The Options menu lets you reconfigure your username and language, save CPU and memory usage by disabling the Queue list and Known Clients list, but also select the font of the interface text. You can adjust the transfer capacity (download and upload limit), schedule a task (i.e. to-do list), enable MobileMule (with a password), and more. Bottom line In conclusion, eMule is an efficient file sharing client, which does not feed on all your bandwidth. It was and still is the basis of newer, more modern file sharing clients. It does not put a strain on the computer's performance and the interface is quite suitable to all user categories. Jobs are usually completed in a timely manner, without popping up errors, freezing or crashing. Reviewed by Elena Opris, last updated on July 6th, 2014
